The Role
Join us as a Business Development Manager at Hometree Finance—the branch of Hometree dedicated to helping customers find flexible financing for home energy upgrades. In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying and building relationships with new business partners in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar. You will proactively present Hometree Finance's products, negotiate deals, and close business agreements, ensuring both customer satisfaction and business growth. You'll manage the full sales pipeline, from lead generation to post-sale performance, while collaborating closely with internal teams to align on strategy and goals. Your insights into market trends and customer needs will guide the development of new business opportunities, helping us meet and exceed sales targets in a rapidly evolving market.
Responsibilities:
- Identify New Renewable Business Partners: Proactively research and identify potential business partners in the renewable energy sector to create new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
- Present Hometree Finance Products: Effectively present Hometree Finance’s products and services to prospective partners, demonstrating value and alignment with their needs and goals.
- Close Deals and Negotiate Agreements: Lead the negotiation process, close business deals, and ensure mutually beneficial terms that contribute to business growth and customer satisfaction.
- Manage the Sales Pipeline: Oversee the entire sales process from lead generation to deal closure, ensuring timely follow-ups, accurate reporting, and smooth transitions.
- Understand Market Trends and Customer Needs: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging customer needs to tailor business strategies and product offerings.
- Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on messaging, product updates, and customer feedback.
- Achieve Sales and Revenue Targets: Consistently meet or exceed individual and team sales targets by managing key accounts and driving revenue growth within the renewable sector.
- Monitor Post-Deal Performance: Track and analyse the performance of closed deals to ensure that customer expectations are met and address any issues that arise post-sale.
- Report on Sales Metrics and Forecasting: Provide regular updates on sales progress, forecasts, and key performance indicators to leadership, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven Track Record in New Business: At least 5 years of experience in business development, with a strong history of successfully acquiring new clients and closing deals.
- Solar Experience: Previous experience working within the solar energy industry, with a solid understanding of the technology and market dynamics.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the solar market, including trends, key players, and customer needs, to drive strategic decision-making.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly and persuasively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both in writing and verbally.
- Negotiation Expertise: Skilled in negotiating terms and closing deals that benefit both parties while maintaining strong relationships.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Creative and resourceful in overcoming challenges and finding solutions that meet both client and company needs.
- Analytical Skills: Capable of analysing market trends, customer data, and sales metrics to inform business strategies and decision-making.
- Time Management and Organisation: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability: Flexible in adjusting to market changes, new challenges, and evolving business needs.

- Finance Industry Experience: Previous experience within the finance sector, with a strong understanding of financial products, regulations, and market dynamics.
